Hello hello! if we connected over emails, zoom, teams or in real life, this is the page I was talking about. Hopefully some of those notes and links are helpful.
Programs
Here is a list of free programs that can help you learn the craft and be seen by the right people:
D&AD Shift x Google - check this one out if you do not have any university degree
Book
You’re still working on your portfolio and you don’t know what brands to work on?
Try to choose a well-known brand that does not already do great work on a regular basis (avoid Nike, IKEA, Wendy’s).
Laundry detergent, chips, chocolate, bank, airline, supermarket, mouthwash, at-home coffee, toilet paper. Go by your day and look at the average brands you use that could get some help. We shouldn’t have to learn what the product or brand is, don’t go too niche.
If you’re in your first placement/internship you probably already heard of decks. A good idea can only come to life when properly presented and sold to a client.
Aisha Hakim created this really useful …deck for it.
There are just so many ways to tackle a brief.
Juggi Ramakrishnan and Todd McCracken gave us 52 tools for working up ideas in short periods of time.
Film Grab and Shot Deck - A memorable movie scene is worth 1000 Shutterstock images
EyeCandy - Same concept with GIFs
Same Energy - Kinda like Pinterest
Colour Contrast Checker - Useful tool for accessible design
Let's Enhance.io - Enhance images quality (I know I use low res GIFs on my own book, Squarespace is driving me crazy, don’t mention it)
Design Resources - A large selection of websites for guidelines, mockups, and softwares.
